Membership FAQ

How does membership work?

Membership is a monthly subscription. Your card will be charged on the 1st of each month. If you are starting your membership after the 1st of the month, your first payment will be prorated.

When is it worth getting a membership?

If you are climbing once a week or more, membership is the most cost effective option. If you climb less frequently than that, you may prefer a punch card. Be aware that punch cards do not include member benefits.

What is a Duo membership?

Duo memberships are available to any two people for $140/month. Having a climbing partner is a powerful and positive motivator, and we want that option to be accessible to everyone— not only to those with children or romantic partners. One person will be the “responsible party” whose credit card is billed monthly. Please note that we cannot split payments between cards. For those with children, you may add dependents under 18 yrs for $40 each.

What is included in my membership?

See the “Member Benefits” section below for details!

What if I want to stop my membership?

To stop your membership, you must either freeze or cancel. You may freeze or cancel any time after your first 30 days of membership. Changes to your membership take effect at the end of the month. For example, if you submit a freeze request on June 2nd, your membership will be frozen as of closing time on June 30th and you will not be billed on July 1st. Your membership will remain active until the end of June, and you are welcome to continue climbing during that time. To make changes to your membership, click here.

What is the difference between freezing and cancelling?

Freezing your membership: You may freeze once per calendar year for free. After that it’s $5/month. When you unfreeze your membership, you will not be charged a reinitiation fee. We recommend freezing if you are taking a temporary break from climbing at Elevation and think you may return at some point.

Cancelling your membership: You may cancel your membership any time after your first 30 days of enrollment. Bear in mind that changes to your membership take effect at the end of the month. If you choose to resume membership, there will be a $50 reinitiation fee. We recommend cancelling only if you have no intention of returning to climbing at Elevation (e.g. you are moving out of state). Otherwise, freezing is the better option as it won’t incur a reinitiation fee.

How long can I keep my membership frozen?

You may keep your membership frozen for up to 1 year; after that, it will automatically lapse. If you choose to restart your membership in the future, you will not be charged a reinitiation fee.

If I freeze or cancel mid-month, will I receive a refund for the remainder of the month?

No, we do not issue refunds or credits for partial months. If you don’t want to be charged for the next month, make sure to submit your freeze or cancel request before the 1st of the month. If you cancel after the 1st of the month, your membership will remain active through the last day of the month and you are welcome to continue climbing and taking advantage of your other member benefits during that time.
